Healing Trauma Held In Knee from the Inside Out

Generate Poe

A dull ache, a memory

lodged deep in the bone,

a tremor in the cartilage,

a ghost in the joint.

Not a visible wound,

no scar to trace its path,

but a knowing, a deep knowing,

a tightening, a resistance.

The knee remembers,

holds the weight of falls,

unseen battles,

silent screams.

Years have passed,

seasons have turned,

but the trauma lingers,

a subtle limp, a hesitant step.

It whispers in the stillness,

a low hum of pain,

a tightening in the muscles,

a reluctance to bend.

The therapist's hands, gentle,

a slow, deliberate pressure,

releasing the grip of the past,

unraveling the knots.

Breath by breath,

movement by movement,

the tension begins to yield,

a softening, a thawing.

Not a sudden release,

but a gradual unwinding,

layer by layer,

memory by memory.

The knee remembers the sun,

the warmth on its skin,

the joy of running,

of dancing, of leaping.

Slowly, tentatively,

the movement returns,

a tentative bend,

a cautious stretch.

The pain still whispers,

but its voice is fainter,

drowned out by the sounds

of new strength emerging.

The scar tissue softens,

yielding to the gentle force

of self-compassion,

of forgiveness, of healing.

The knee remembers its strength,

its resilience, its ability

to carry the weight of life,

to bend, to flex, to move.

It remembers laughter,

the feeling of grass beneath its weight,

the freedom of unburdened gait,

the lightness of being whole.

From the inside out,

a transformation unfolds,

a slow, steady unfolding,

a journey towards wholeness.

The knee remembers,

but it also forgives.

It remembers,

but it also heals.
