Standing Up for What You Believe In: Poetry by Sound Alchemist Julie Jewels Smoot

Updated: Aug 18

Standing up for what you believe in

Is not always an easy task

It takes courage and strength

To speak out and take action

When you see injustice

Or hear ignorance and hate

It can be tempting to stay silent

To avoid conflict and debate

But true conviction

Cannot be suppressed

It burns within your soul

And demands to be expressed

So you raise your voice

And stand your ground

Even when faced with opposition

You will not back down

You know that change

Will not come easily

But you are determined

To fight for what is right

You refuse to be silenced

By fear or doubt

You will not be swayed

By those who seek to shout

For you believe in equality

And justice for all

You will not rest

Until the world hears your call

You stand up for the voiceless

And the oppressed

You will not let their struggles

Go unnoticed or undressed

You will march in the streets

And protest with passion

You will not be deterred

By those who seek to ration

For you know that progress

Requires sacrifice and grit

You will not give up

No matter how hard it may get

So stand tall and strong

In the face of adversity

For you are the voice

Of change and diversity

Your words may be challenged

And your resolve tested

But you will not waver

You will not be bested

For you are a fighter

A warrior for what is just

You will not stop

Until your beliefs are a must

So continue to stand up

For what you believe in

For your voice matters

And it will lead to win.
